My adorable nephew

Filed under: Babies, Black and White — Kristen @ 2:25 pm

He was there for Thanksgiving dinner yesterday, so of course I took a few pictures of him.

My mom is quite in love with his squishy chubbiness, as are the rest of us.

Sigh. I could just eat him up.

More to come of these five…

because I’m not done sorting through my session with them and their parents.  Here are a few, though.

I love this one of the sisters.

And doesn’t the little guy here just melt your heart?? So cute.

Miss D, in her German dress.

Filed under: Black and White, Children — Kristen @ 1:39 am

This poor photo blog has been neglected, oddly enough, because I’ve been so busy TAKING pictures! I don’t have any more sessions scheduled at the moment, though, so hopefully I’ll get a chance to catch up on editing and posting.

This little gal is wearing a dress from Germany, which her grandparents bought for her long, long ago. Well, three years ago!

Her mom wanted to make sure she documented D wearing this dress, so we did a little photo session on a warm day.

Little Poser

Filed under: Black and White, Children — Kristen @ 1:37 am

While I was taking pictures of my nephew recently, I also got a few of Zoe.

She was being awfully serious.

And she was doing a very classic photo-studio pose, all on her own.

and here’s a cheerful version!

There’s a whole world out there…

Filed under: Children — Kristen @ 9:28 pm

These pictures are from the beginning of September, but I just found them now as I was sorting through pre-vacation photo folders.

Love the cheek.

Someone lost a tooth.

A few more of Miss C.

Filed under: Babies, Black and White — Kristen @ 1:49 am

I had such a hard time picking out a few more of my favorites because there are so many I love from this session.

When I first started getting into photography, I really tried to avoid the sun.  I’m slowly getting over that, though, and I’m learning to use good sunlight to my advantage.  I kind of like the hazy effect in these first two images.

It’s so interesting how different the light is with just a small position change. Miss C is in the same spot here as she is in the previous photo…I just moved, and so the effect is completely different.

I love white dresses on little girls.

And because I can’t bear to do a post without a black and white, here’s one more image.

Some chilly swimming

Filed under: Children, Everyday Happenings — Kristen @ 9:34 pm

Our neighbor behind us owns a pool, and though he gives us a free invitation all summer long, we only ever seem to make it over once a year. I don’t know quite what’s wrong with us!

His pool is chilly, but it does have a cool slide.

IMG_1691

I don’t often use the action setting on my camera, but it is awfully handy for water slide pictures.

Lisey, shivering.

IMG_1716-1

Zoe was smart enough to realize that the pool was too cold for anything but dipping her feet.

IMG_1706

The most wonderful thing about swimming at this pool is that all we have to do is take a walk through our yard, and we’re home.  Easy-peasy.  Remind me why I don’t do this more often??

I will do better next summer.

Peaceful.

This is my nephew, who will soon be 4 months old. I plan to do an honest-to-goodness session with him to mark that, but for now, here’s a quick snapshot I took of him at the pool last week.

One lovely thing about babies is that it’s so easy to catch them sleeping. I hardly ever get to take sleeping pictures of my children anymore!
