More of Z’s birthday

Filed under: Children, Everyday Happenings — Kristen @ 1:44 am

Zoe opened up some presents from us on her birthday, but the light was pretty awful, and so those pictures aren’t that great. However, she got some presents from her grandparents on Sunday afternoon, and the light was much better then. ;)

First she opened the card(she loves cards!).

And on to the presents!

A helmet was in that one!

On to the next one…

…which had a fish sleeping bag in it! Oh, joy of joys.

Z’s Birthday, part 1: The Cake

Filed under: Black and White, Children, Everyday Happenings — Kristen @ 1:38 am

If you’ve been hanging around this blog for long at all, you know that Zoe is a big fish fan. I made a fish cake for her last year when she turned two, and a year later, she still remembers that cake! For the last several months, whenever we talk about birthdays, she always says, “Have a fish cake!”. So, I obliged her with a second fish cake.

There was much licking of chocolate spatulas…

and wire whisks.

I’m no cake decorator, but(happily!), Zoe isn’t too picky, and she was quite pleased with this.

The three wasn’t backwards if you were sitting in Zoe’s seat. ;)

Zoe is an enormous chocolate fan, so she happily ate every bite of her cake.

A taste of spring.

Filed under: Black and White, Children, Everyday Happenings — Kristen @ 9:57 pm

Last week we had some gorgeous non-winter weather, and on one particularly warm day, I took the kids down to our neigborhood pier(and brought my camera, naturally).

Just so you don’t fear for my children’s safety, I want you to know that they were not sitting as dangerously close to the edge of the pier as it seems. For some reason, they look really close to the edge in the pictures. It almost makes ME nervous to look at them!

I am SO annoyed with myself for not bothering to dig out Zoe’s white dress. That was stupid.

Lisey was worried Zoe wouldn’t be careful enough, so she held on to her.

I love how peaceful they look here! lol

Sonia is by far my most cooperative model. She kinda has a thing for being the center of attention. ;)

I wasn’t sure this angle was going to work at all(there’s some ugly mud below the grassy slope), but I was pleasantly surprised.

I love her little legs and feet so much.

This one cracks me up. Love the deep red fence behind her too.

Just so you know, this piling(is that what it’s called?) is on dry ground.

Ooh, and here’s one of the boy. ;)

Those eyes…

I think that someday, some young man is going to be captivated by these baby blues. ;)

or maybe this smile…

or maybe her sparkling personality. ;)

Heaven knows that dear young man is going to have his hands full.

Sometimes…

Filed under: Children, Everyday Happenings — Kristen @ 3:51 pm

…you just can’t make it without a nap. Zoe is in that in-between stage, where a daily nap is too much, but no naps at all means not enough sleep. She sort of self-regulates this, though…when she’s tired, she climbs up onto the couch with plenty of blankets in tow, and takes a little nap.

Naturally, I couldn’t leave them all in color. ;)
