Two Weeks

Two weeks to the day after he was born, I got to take pictures of my little nephew again.

Look! The crib isn’t empty any more.

And Snoopy has someone to look at too.

I love how he looks so little and helpless here.

He yawned for me again…this baby does such long yawns, you don’t even have to be fast to catch one!

Ahh, isn’t he adorable?

I’m such a blessed photographer…having a baby nephew to photograph is almost as good as having a baby of my own to photograph(and I get a LOT more sleep this way!).

This is sort of backwards..

..because I’ve already posted pictures of him, but before a week before my new nephew was born, I took some maternity pictures of my sister, which was a new experience for me. She was a very cooperative subject, though, and we had a lot of fun.

Could someone please explain to me…

how my baby could possibly be looking so unbaby-ish??

I see her every day, so I should know she’s looking a little more grown up these days, but for some reason, she looks especially grown-up to me in this picture.

Face Painting

I took Sonia and Zoe along with me to the rally during set-up because I knew they’d both want their faces painted(and don’t worry, I took them back home before any motorcycles showed up!).

Zoe went first.

Naturally, she picked a sea creature.

She kept coming back to pick up the mirror so she could admire her cheek.

Sonia picked a sparkly butterfly.

And now for some black and white.

This little guy was feeling a bit sad, but it was nothing a snuggle with his mom couldn’t fix.

I know I said I don’t usually like sepia…

but when I was editing the pictures of this family, whom I photographed last week…

a lot of their pictures seemed to scream for sepia.

Of course, I liked an awful lot of them in black and white(and some in color too, even! lol), but that’s for another post.

Happy Mother’s Day to my sister!

Who is mama to a very, very new little boy.

In fact, he was only a few hours old when I went to visit him.

Naturally, I brought my camera, because I hate to miss a photo opportunity.

And imagine my delight when I saw not one, but two big windows in the hospital room. The light could hardly have been better.

I decided that I could REALLY get into this newborn photography thing. They lay still so nicely.

Of course, I had to take some pictures of his cute little parts.

I can hardly wait to take more pictures of him(lucky for me he lives close by!), so I’m sure he will be gracing my blog in the future.

I am loving the green.

In February, this is what it looked like down by the pier in my neighborhood. I like this picture…

…but my goodness! I adore the green-ness that has spread over the world in the last few weeks. This picture is in the exact same spot as the above picture.

I just love it! It makes me want to do nothing but take pictures.

“Are they all yours?”

This is, without a doubt, the most common thing I hear when I go out with my kids. I’m a little amused at how noteworthy four children seems to be…I grew up in a family of four, so four seems nothing but normal to me.

I always smile and say that yes, they are indeed all mine. Most people are very nice about it(I hear a lot of the “Bless your heart!” type of thing), and there have only been a few rude comments(one so crass that I can’t even repeat it here!).

At any rate, Miss Difficult-to-Photograph has been with us the last three times we’ve gone grocery shopping…

and when she’s with us, for once, I can say “No, they are NOT all mine. Only four of them.”
